Mr. Freese

Do you know what killed the dinosaurs? The ice age…. Sorry, you can thank my son for that beginning. Taken from Batman. The old school, who’s going to be the next Batman, Batman. You know, the one where Arnold Schwarzenegger is Mr. Freeze? Yeah, we say that a lot around my house. You’re welcome for taking you back.

It was so funny tonight. I was happily a member of the audience during my daughter’s preschool graduation, and thanks to the wonders of XM radio, when we got into the car, I saw the Cards were up 6-0 on the Brewers way early. After coming home and doing some investigating, I was able to thank David Freese for a first inning grand slam that put the boys up for good, and coincided with Jaime Garcia’s 5th win of the season.

No thanks to the dirty play of Aramis Ramirez, who homered in both the 4th and the 6th (3 RBIs each), the Cards gave us another win. Yep, single-handedly, that former Cub was able to make it a game. Fortunately for us, the boys fended off the Brewers at Busch to continue their domination of the National League Central. Yes, they are 2.5 games above the Pirates. We are golden.

Only team in all of Major League Baseball that has a better record? The Texas Rangers. And that’s only because they’ve played one more game than the boys in red Cardinal gear. The Cards are 27-14 for the year. I would be remissed if I would  not mention that my biggest nemesis in all of Major League Baseball-yes, those “Angels” that live in Cali, have almost the opposite record: 15-27. Why do I mention this? Because I still have remorse/animosity toward a guy that I will refer to as AP. Hey, AP, you have Mike Trout, yourself, and Josh Hamilton. I’m mad at you. A lot. A year later, I hold a grudge. You come to KC every year (yes, I have the luck to live here) doing clinics for kids. My nephew was fortunate enough to attend your clinic. You’re awesome in that respect. Now, I’m leaving it alone. Forever. For-ev-er.

Back to the topic at hand. I’m super happy about Freese getting back to business. I love to see him doing well. I hope this is just the beginning to turning the thermostat down (get it…Freese, cold, thermostat down…). Here’s to hoping he can keep himself on the upswing.

Go Cards!
