Vancouver Assigns Two To Chill

The Utica Comets, an American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, have assigned goalie Mathieu Corbeil and forward Steven Anthony to the St. Charles Chill.

Corbeil (pronounced Core-bay) was a fourth round selection (102nd overall) by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.  The 6’ 6” 190 pound netminder spend his rookie season last year with the Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League (CHL) where he posted a 2.69 goals-against average with a .915 save percentage in 21 games.  Prior to turning pro, the Montreal, Quebec native played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) where he was part of a goalie tandem that won the Memorial Cup in 2010-11 as a member of the Saint John Sea Dogs.  Crobeil followed that up in 2011-12 with a 37-10-1 record and 2.38 GAA which led the league en-route to the QMJHL Championship while being honored as a Second Team All-Star.

Anthony, a forward from Halifax, Nova Scotia, began his professional career with Kalamazoo of the ECHL after being selected by Vancouver in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.  Anthony posted 11 goals and 20 assists in two seasons with the Kings.  Prior to turning pro, the 6’ 2”, 200 pound left-handed shot spent four seasons with the St. John Sea Dogs (including one season with Crobeil) where he helped guide the team to the Memorial Cup in 2010-11 with 60 points in 61 games and a plus/minus rating of +35.
