The Cardinals Suck? Think Again.

by

So there has been this HUGE controversy going on in St. Louis about this one article, explaining “Why our Cardinals suck”. If you haven’t read it yet and are looking for a good laugh, I recommend you go read it.

Basically this article states that “Baseball’s most beloved team” is actually really hated. Also, it explains how awful our team is. Think again, buddy.

The St. Louis Cardinals have been through many low’s and high’s. On Wednesday, the Cardinals won a do-or-die game 5 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, advancing to the 2013 NLCS against the Los Angels Dodgers. The Cardinals have fought hard to be where they are today. I see non-Cardinals fans all the time saying that they are getting tired of seeing us in the Postseason. All I will say about that is this – Good teams deserve to get into the Playoffs.

Maybe this guy should read the many reasons why OUR Cardinals DON’T suck…

World Series Champions

The Cardinals have won the World Series eleven times; 1926, 1931, 1934, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1964, 1967, 1982, 2006, 2011

That alone is a very good reason why we don’t suck. I hate to be “that” fan who defends their team with how many World Series Championships we have. But hey, you have to admit, eleven titles is pretty impressive.

MVP’S

My last article was strictly about this topic. The Cardinals have many players that are really good at what they do, two of them alone actually being MVP candidates. Just to list off a few of our amazing players, we have our five-time Gold Glove winner Yadier Molina behind the plate. Secondly, we have the came-out-of-nowhere trade prospect MVP Matt Carpenter. Let’s not forget about Mr. Carlos Beltran, bomb-hitter Matt Adams, and Matt Holliday.

Really, if you look at pretty much all of our players, every single one of them has a great advantage to this team.

Pitching

Our pitching so far this season has been outrageously well. We have a variety of many great talents. From our CY Young Ace Adam Wainwright, to our rookie prospect Michael Wacha. In the regular season, the Cardinals ERA had a total of 3.42. That is one of the lowest in the MLB. These young guys have a bright future for the Cardinals. They have really helped us getting through this season with their amazing defense.

Offense

Looking at a list of the top 35 batting averages in the National League, there are seven Cardinals right there on that list. With Carlos Beltran with over twenty homeruns in the regular season, and with our guys getting extra base hits left and right, most nights, our offense is hard to beat.

Now those reasons were just few of many on why we don’t suck. Don’t get me wrong, every team has their flaws. St. Louis understands that we are a winning team. No need to hate us for being proud of our team. Come on now.

On to our fan base. Cardinal Nation. I’m not going to say that everyone in Cardinal Nation is a good fan. Every fan base has those fans who make the fan base look bad sometimes. That’s their own fault. Overall, we are a great fan base. I see a lot of jokes from Cardinal haters about the term “Best Fans In Baseball”. Even I sometimes kind of disagree with the term. But we have a great fan base overall, and we want to see our team win just as much as the next guy. But don’t say the Cardinals suck because of their fan base.

So here I’ve proven my point that, no, we don’t suck. So St. Louis, don’t let some sour puss ruin our mood. Let’s focus more on our Cardinals, and cheer them on to the World Series. The Cardinals are obviously going to be getting some hate because people are sick of seeing us in the Postseason. For some reason, this article that this guy wrote just went more viral than the others.

Take a chill pill St. Louis. We’re better than worrying about what people have to say about our city and the Cardinals. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the NLCS.

I hope everyone is having a good time watching the Playoffs! We are very close to yet another National League pennant. Hope everyone is doing good, and thanks for reading!

Keep flying, Cardinal Nation.
