The St. Charles Chill, a proud affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, battled back from a two-goal deficit in the final period on Ryan Berard’s first, but the Americans’ Alex Lavoie scored the game-winner with 1:35 left to propel Allen to a 6-4 win.

The Chill started the scoring when Kyle O’Kane knocked in a rebound for his first of the season at the 12:59 mark of the initial period.  The first lead of the season for St. Charles lasted for just 59 seconds when Jamie Schaasfma scored on the power play, the first of three-straight goals by Allen (2-0-1) that gave them a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.

Steve Makway blasted a shot from just inside the blue line that closed the Chill deficit to 3-2, and following a tally from Darryl Bootland two minutes later, got the first goal from Kyle Kraemer to bring St. Charles back within one at 4-3.

The third period would remain scoreless until the final four minutes.  Ryan Berard brought the scored to 4-4 with 3:24 left on assists from Justin Levac and Tyler Barr but another quick response from Allen gave them the 5-4 lead at the 18:25 mark.  The Americans would put the game away with an empty net goal for the final score of 6-4.
