Goalie Robby Moss turned aside 42-of-43 shots and the Chill got third period goals from Dan Weiss and Ryan Berard to break open a 1-1 tie en-route to a 3-1 win over the Denver Cutthroats.

St. Charles (5-12-4) took a 1-0 lead at the 7:33 mark when Steve Makway notched his eighth goal on the assist from Nicklas Lindberg but the Cutthroats (11-7-4) tied it up with a power play goal less than a minute later.  A wild first period saw 34 shots including 19 from Denver, but Moss was dominant.

Neither team cracked the scoring column in the second period, but it was not without its share of action.  Moss made several outstanding saves, snaring a breakaway and making countless post-to-post saves.

Seemingly feeding off the play of Moss, the Chill, playing two men down due to the suspensions, and playing the second night of back-to-back games after arriving in Denver at 7:00am, found a third gear in the final period.

Weiss gave St. Charles the lead just under four minutes into the third after pulling the puck out of a crowd and firing a shot just under the crossbar.  Justin Levac and Ryan Berard earned the assist on the goal, but Berard was not done for the night.  After guaranteeing head coach Jamie Rivers a goal prior to the game, Berard delivered with his second of the season on a breakaway that was set up by a hustling Martin Hlinka to push the score to 3-1.

St. Charles played phenomenally with the lead in the third period. They clogged up the neutral zone, made it virtually impossible for Denver to gain the offensive zone, and stayed away from the costly penalty… and Moss took care of the rest.

St. Charles returns to the Family Arena Friday, December 13th against the Wichita Thunder on Boy Scout Night.   $10 lower bowl tickets are available for all scouts, family, and friends and the game will feature a teddy bear toss.  Fans can also receive $5 off lower bowl tickets when they bring a teddy bear to the game to toss on the ice after the first Chill goal that will be donated to those in need.  For group ticket packages, sponsorships, and more information on the St. Charles Chill visit StCharlesChill.com or call (636) 724-SHOT (7468).
