Ambush Lose Early Lead, Fall To Rochester, 16-7

by Press Release

The St. Louis Ambush got off to an early lead in Saturday night’s game against the Rochester Lancers, but their early 5-0 lead proved to not be enough as the Lancers bounced back to claim a 16-7 win over St. Louis. The loss drops St. Louis’ record to 2-3, while the Lancers improved to 2-4.

Neither team scored in the opening stanza. Elvir Kafedzic put St. Louis on the board off a pass from Mike Mesle at 1:24 of the second period. St. Louis increased their lead to 4-0 when Odaine Sinclair scored an unassisted three-pointer at 6:25. Juninho answered for the Lancers with a tally at 12:19, and the second quarter ended with St. Louis on top, 5-2. They would score only one more goal the rest of the game.

Rochester took the lead in the third quarter, thanks to goals from Joe Tavernese and Pedrinho. St. Louis didn’t score in the period, which ended with the Lancers enjoying a 6-5 advantage.

JP Rodrigues increased the Lancers’ lead to 8-5 at 4:49 of the final period. Newly-signed Tim Vance, playing in just his second game for the Ambush, scored his first goal at 9:53to put St. Louis within one of the Lancers. Vance’s tally, however, would be the last of the game for St. Louis as the Ambush offense went stale and Rochester scored five unanswered goals to close out the 16-7 win.

Next up for the Ambush, presented by Simmons First National Bank, is a trip to Independence to face the Comets next Sunday, December 22 at 3:10 p.m. CST. This current four-game road trip concludes when the Ambush pay their first visit of the season to Milwaukee to clash with the Wave on December 28. St. Louis returns home to the Family Arena to host the Syracuse Silver Knights Sunday, December 29 at 3:35 p.m.
