Former Billiken Brad Davis has been selected for the United States Men’s National Team 30-man preliminary roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The 30 players will report on May 14 for training camp at Stanford University. The USMNT will play three friendlies in the United States before departing for Brazil in June. The final World Cup roster, which will be comprised of 23 players, will be announced on a date yet to be determined.

Davis has earned 14 caps in his USMNT career. His debut came in the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup, when he started for the USA in a 4-1 victory over Cuba. Later against Panama, Davis came off the bench and eventually scored the game winner in a penalty-kick shootout. Most recently, he started against Korea on Feb. 1 and Mexico on April 2.

An All-American at Saint Louis in 2000 and 2001, Davis accumulated 62 points (21G, 20A) and led SLU to back-to-back Conference USA championships. He was a key member of the Billikens’ 2001 NCAA quarterfinalist squad that posted an 18-2-0 record. Davis is a member of the Billiken Hall of Fame and the Billiken Half-Century Team.

Davis has enjoyed an illustrious professional career with the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer. He led the club to MLS Cups in 2006 and 2007. He is a six-time MLS All-Star and is the Dynamo’s all-time leader in appearances and assists.
