WWE Survivor Series coming to St. Louis!

by

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) will be returning to St. Louis for another major pay-per-view event.

Survivor Series, the second-longest running annual pay-per-view wrestling event, will be held at the Scottrade Center on November 23rd. It will be the fourth PPV in the last five years hosted in the Gateway City. In 2013, they hosted Extreme Rules. In 2012, St. Louis hosted the Royal Rumble event, and in 2010, was host to the first ever Elimination Chamber PPV.

The event will feature veteran stars such as John Cena, Kane, Goldust & Stardust (Dustin Rhodes and Cody Rhodes), and Randy Orton, who is a St. Louis native and very popular across the city and surrounding areas. There will also be a slew of new, younger stars, such as Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, Bray Wyatt, and The Usos, among others.

This will be the 28th annual Survivor Series event, which first began in 1987, and has aired yearly ever since. It is one of the “Big Four” PPV’s held annually by WWE (the other three are the Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, and Summerslam). This specific wrestling event is notable for its traditional “Survivor Series” match, which features two teams of wrestlers facing against each other in an elimination-style match.

The scheduled main event will be the traditional elimination match, with Team Cena facing off against Team Authority.

St. Louis has been a staple of professional wrestling for over half a century, most notably Sam Muchnick’s St. Louis Wrestling Club promotion, and their flagship program “Wrestling at the Chase” which aired from the 1950’s to the 1980’s.

Much like the St. Louis Cardinals, WWE has been building up for the future, with a developmental system (called “NXT”) in which future stars train, and work their way to the top. Many of the stars WWE has built up and developed over the years will be on hand at the event.

St. Louis also has been the host over the years of multiple pay-per-view events, as well as WWE’s weekly shows “Monday Night Raw” and “Friday Night Smackdown“, and to this day remains a popular area for wrestling promotion to air their shows.

Tickets are still available for Survivor Series. Just go to wwe.com/events.
