Gateway Grizzlies Re-Sign Adams and Vail

by Press Release

The Gateway Grizzlies have re-signed Josh Adams and Garrett Vail for the upcoming 2015 season.

Adams, 25, moves into his second season with the Grizzlies after he was acquired midseason in 2014. The Jacksonville, Fla. native hit two home runs and picked up 11 RBI in 27 games with Gateway.

“Josh is a really versatile player,” Grizzlies’ manager Phil Warren said. “I know he’s working hard and he’s an experienced guy who is good for our clubhouse.”

Adams spent more than three seasons in the Miami Marlins’ system before arriving in Sauget. He was drafted in the 13th round of the 2011 MLB Draft from the University of Florida.

Vail, 24, began his professional baseball career with the Grizzlies in 2014. In primarily a backup catching role, he hit two homers and 13 RBI in 110 at-bats last season.

“He knows how to win and gets it done,” Warren remarked. “He’s a gamer who will do anything you ask,” he said.

The Grizzlies signed the Temple, Tx. native after Vail put together a strong senior season at Missouri Baptist University. He played his junior season at Central Arkansas and spent his first two years of collegiate baseball with Hill Junior College.

“Garrett had a couple of huge hits for us last year and he threw some guys out,” Warren said. “If he gets his swing right, who knows where it will take him.”
