Money in the Bank Preview & Predictions

by

Money in the Bank has quickly become a must see event. The winner gets a guaranteed WWE World Heavyweight championship match. There have been fifteen money in the bank matches with thirteen successful cash ins. Often times, the winner who cashes gets their first world title by cashing in their contract. For that reason, like the Royal Rumble, the winner of this match is propelled to the main event scene (Unless your Damien Sandow).

R-Truth VS King Barrett

You would think when King Barrett won the King of the Ring tournament (that was advertised for two days) he would be getting some more action or a prominent placement on the main roster shows. Instead he gets a match on the preshow with no character development or reason, just a match so these guys can be on the cards. I understand that not everyone on the roster is going to be a main eventer but I do wish there was a bit more story line reason for these two to fight on the preshow of a PPV. R-Truth has some of the best mic work and is naturally funny. The bit on last week’s episode of Raw about thinking he was in the Money in the Bank match was gold. I wish Truth would get the win but King Barrett needs this win more.

Winner: King Barrett

Ryback VS Big Show (Intercontinental Championship)

It was surprising to see Big Show insert himself into the IC title picture but the more I think about it, the more I enjoy the idea of seeing these two behemoths of muscle colliding. Ryback being a transitional champion makes sense to me but not against Big Show. I don’t know where Big Show with the title would go from here. Is he even still a member of the Authority? Unless the goal for the Authority is have all the gold…which now that I think about makes sense. Sending Kevin Owens after Cena, bringing in New Day. I like that line of thinking but there has been no hint of it. All and all, Ryback has only had the title for two weeks. If they wanted a heel champion, they should have replaced Rusev with Big Show in the elimination chamber match. Not sure if it will be a clean win, but Ryback walks out champion.

Winner: Ryback

Nikki Blla Vs Paige (Divas Championship)

*Sigh* There has to be better Divas on the horizon right? I like Paige but she is not been given anything to work with. I am ready for the women of NXT to come up on show the world that women’s wrestling can be just as good, but until then, this is what is acceptable for a divas match. I don’t expect a decent match but I have been wrong before. Nikki wins because Paige doesn’t have back up against Brie,

Winner: Nikki Bella

The New Day VS Prime Time Players (WWE Tag Team Championship)

With Tyson Kidd out with an injury, New Day needs a new tag team to feud with. PTP are the perfect team to step up as the new face tag team. Splitting them up last year felt like such a waste of great chemistry. Their promos have been on point and both have great mic skills that easily help them connect with the fans. Dueling promos between these two teams takes me back to the days of the New Age Outlaws going back and forth with the APA. All five of these men are immensely talented as tag teams and are really bringing back the excitement of the tag team division. This could be a match that steals the show and I will be watching with heavy interest. This is the start of a feud, I don’t see the titles changing hands yet. New Day gets a victory because of the numbers game.

Winners: The New Day

John Cena Vs Kevin Owens

This is the only grudge match on the card with nothing on the line. Although Owens would say otherwise. Owens feels like the real future. The Shield may have gotten there first but Owens will be the top draw in due time. It has taken him fifteen years to perfect his craft and he has adopted the WWE style quickly and effectively to shoot him straight to the main roster. No guy has been in PPV quality storylines in NXT and the main roster. These two easily stole the show at Elimination Chamber and there is no reason they won’t do the same here. I expect to some new moves from Owens in another strong showing but when is the last time Cena actually lost against the same guy twice in row? A good rule of thumb, the baby face, especially the top baby face, always gets the last win.

Winner John Cena

Dolph Ziggler VS Kofi Kingston Vs Neville Vs Randy Orton Vs

Roman Reigns Vs Sheamus Vs Kane (Money in the Bank Contract Ladder Match)

The main attraction of the card, the Money in the Bank match. Who doesn’t love a good ladder match? And ever since WrestleMania 2000, multi man ladder matches have become some of most exciting unique matches put together. Money in the Bank was once feared to be a spot fest, where the only real moves were death defying stunts off the ladder; but we really need to give the superstars credit. They may be stunts but they are exciting and different. Much more interesting than a free for all.  There are enough big names in this match to make you think anybody could win. But I fear WWE has learned nothing from earlier this year. The winner has been telegraphed for a few weeks now. Sure I have created unique storylines for Dolph, Kane and Kofi to win but the winner will be Roman Reigns. This is my lock of the week. It is tough for me to see a scenario in which anybody else wins this match.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Seth Rollins VS Dean Ambrose (WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Ladder Match)

Well I guess the ladders are already there, why not use them in one more match. Kind of unique that there is a ladder match being used outside of the TLC PPV. Dean is getting an awesome push to the main event scene and his matches, promos, energy etc. shows that he deserves this spot. He has the crowd behind him much like Daniel Bryan once did without the chant. If Dean didn’t steal the title after Elimination Chamber, I would say he has a shot to pull an upset and finally reach the pinnacle of his career. But Seth has been going on about how he has to do this alone. Seem like Rollins needs this one to show that he can pick up a clean win. Like my statement in the Elimination Chamber match. Dean will get his win, just not now.

Winner: Seth Rollins
