EAST HANOVER, NJ – This one was tough to take. After a spirited 90 minutes of play with the score tied at 1-1, the New York Red Bulls II scored a last gasp winner on Saturday evening to take all three points at Saint Louis FC’s expense.

The game started so brightly for Saint Louis with them dominating possession throughout the first half. Mike Ambersley had the best chance as his chip over the keeper was cleared off the line. The Saint Louis defense was to be undone on the break after a Patrick Doody corner failed to beat the first defender and New York launched a lightning counter attack in the 39th minute for Marius Obekop to beat Alec Kann one-on-one.

The second half was more of the same with Saint Louis retaining the ball and trying to make chances. Bryan Ciesulka tied the game minutes after coming in beating the New York keeper on the inside post to level the score in the 72nd minute. In the last 20 minutes Saint Louis really pushed for the winner. Mike Ambersley had close range effort saved at point blank range keeping Red Bulls II in the game.

However, all the good work was undone as New York claimed the win in stoppage time, thanks to second half substitute Castellanos. The Academy product played a quick one-two with Dan Bedoya at the top of the 18-yard box and buried his chance to claim an important three-points.

Saint Louis FC, are left 3 places below the playoff line in 9th place in the Eastern Conference and will return home on Saturday to face FC Montreal.
