Redbirds And Sounds Suspended After Half Inning

Resumption Part Of Twin Bill Thursday With Memphis Leading 3-0

Wednesday’s series opener between the Memphis Redbirds and the Nashville Sounds has been suspended due to inclement weather and field conditions.

The suspension came after the Redbirds plated three runs in the top of the first inning. In his first game back with Memphis after his promotioan to St. Louis, Dan Johnson delivered an RBI single to score the game’s first run. Cody Stanley recorded an RBI on a fielder’s choice, followed by Jeremy Hazelbaker’s RBI single.

Redbirds’ starter John Gast did not throw a pitch in the bottom of the first with the Nashville grounds crew working on the field until the skies opened above First Tennessee Park.

Wednesday’s game will resume Thursday at 6:05pm, followed by the evening’s regularyly scheduled contest, now a seven-inning matchup. Marco Gonzales (0-2, 6.13) will start game one for Memphis, with game two’s starter yet to be determined.
