Top Five Stories NFL Week 12

by

The last week of November means playoff spots are on the line.

  1. Carolina Panthers@ Dallas Cowboys- This is a game of the unbeatens, sort of. Obviously the Panthers have yet to lose a game but something that may have been ignored is Dallas quarterback Tony Romo has also yet to lose a game. The Cowboys may have lost seven straight but five of those losses were decided by a single score. It was a rough two months for the Cowboys but now that Romo is back, you can’t count the cowboys out as easily anymore. The Panthers are coming off the most lopsided win of the season and are riding a wave of momentum and positive emotions right into Dallas. The Cowboys are still playing for the East while the Panthers can coast into a division title. If this is a game of who wants it more, the Cowboys are the clear favorite.
  2. New England Patriots@ Denver Broncos- This was supposed to be the annual Brady/Manning bowl but Manning went down with a foot injury which opens the door for Brock Osweiler to be fed to the wolves. The Patriots have been looking more human the last couple weeks at the same time the Broncos are in their worst stretch of the season. Admittedly I have not seen a lot of the Broncos this season but the Patriots defense is playing much better then they get credit for but what can you expect from Tom Brady? He will always overshadow the rest of the team. This could be Osweiler’s statement game for teams to take him seriously, but if were gonna be realistic, Patriots should eat the new quarterback alive.
  3. New York Giants@ Washington Redskins- At this point every NFC East game is a must watch. Even though the Redskins got crushed against Carolina, the Redskins still remain a game back in the division. A win against the Giants ties them for first place. While I would consider myself more of a Giants fan, I have to root for the chaos this would cause in the East. This season is already one of the most fascinating seasons in recent memory, every team in the east with a losing record just adds to the excitement.
  4. Buffalo Bills@ Kansas City Chiefs- Essentially, an AFC playoff spot is on the line here. The Chiefs are trying to finish an improbable turn around on the season while the Bills are hoping to stay in the race. If the playoffs started today, the Chiefs would get the last playoff spot. They may have more to play for than the Bills. After being counted out just a month ago, I am sure this team is hungry to prove they deserve to be here as much as the next team.
  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers@ Indianapolis Colts- You did not read that wrong. This is honestly a game you should pay attention to. The Colts are trying to fend off the Texans who are playing better every week. This is an increasing problem for Indianapolis who had to put in Matt Hasselbeck to play for an injured Andrew Luck. Hasselbeck has proven himself to be a winner in the past so the question here is easily old vs new. The Buccs find themselves just a game back of the wildcard after Atlanta have lost four of their last five and are trying exceeded expectations by climbing into a wildcard spot. Both teams find themselves with plenty to play for. Something has to give. A loss by either of these teams means a win for someone else.
