St. Charles, MO-

After a Friday meet against SEMO the Lindenwood Lady Lions had a quick turnaround Sunday when they hosted Mizzou.

In front of a near capacity crowd that was a near split between Mizzou Gymnastics and Lindenwood Gymnastics fans both programs put on a fantastic display of talent.

Lindenwood, who won the USAG National Title last season, came in hobbled with three injured gymnast but refused to allow that to be an excuse as they were led by multiple Lady Lions in scoring. The Trio of Rachel Zabawa, Hannah Rector, and Kierstin Sokolowski, all scored a 9.725 in the Beam event.

While the Lady Lions performed well in three of the events (Beam, Floor, and Vault), they struggled on the uneven bars scoring only a 47.450.

Mizzou was solid in all four events, lead by Morgan Porter who combined for 39.250 in the overall scoring a meet best 9.800 on Bars, and tied for first on Floor with a 9.850.

Mizzou freshmen Brooke Kelly also would claim first place in the Beam event with a 9.850. Also, Tigers sophomore Kennedi Harris won the Floor with a 9.875 helping Mizzou to a clean sweep of the meet.

Mizzou defeated Lindenwood in the event 195.200 – 192.000 moving to 2-0 on the season. Meanwhile the Lady Lions fall to 1-1 in the early part of the season.

The Mizzou Tigers will travel to face #3 ranked Alabama Friday evening in Tuscaloosa. Lindenwood take on a five team meet at home this Friday evening.

Below is our interview with Lauren Cartmell of Lindenwood discussing the evening and the upcoming meet.
