Late Sunday night a report came out that Korean infielder, Dae-Ho Lee, was deciding between two MLB teams, and that a decision could come in the next 48 hours. Another report came out after that, saying, that one of the two teams was an AL West team and the other team was in the NL Central. When people say the NL Central, I think of the Cardinals in this situation, because, they have already been active in the Korean market this offseason, in the signing of Seung-Hwan Oh, and could use a first baseman in some situations. No, the Cardinals aren’t just desperate at this point for a first baseman or do they totally need one, but if they wanted to trade away Adams, then Lee could be a good addition.

Lee, 33, has played professional baseball for 15 seasons, and has spent the last 4 seasons in the Japan Pacific League. In 2015, Lee hit 31 home runs, hit in 98 runs, and had a .282 batting average. When I see those numbers, I see a really good hitter, but we also have to realize that the Major Leagues are a little different then Korean or Japanese baseball.

If the Cardinals were to sign Lee, I see them signing him to a 1-year deal with a team option for the 2nd year. Not only do they not know how well he will produce in the Majors, but he has been playing for a while. I see them putting an option on the deal, because, Moss will be a Free Agent in 2017, as well as Holliday, AND the NL could be adding a DH. Adding a DH to the NL , would probably mean the Cardinals put Lee at the DH position, because, he is a bigger guy, and hasn’t been a fielder his whole career. But, we also have to remember that Encarnacion and Bautista will also be Free Agents next year, and with the Cardinals having lots of money to spend, those guys could be a target.

Please leave any feedback that you have about the Cardinals or Dae-Ho Lee in the comments.
