The day that Cardinal fans have all been waiting for, is finally here. The first Spring Training game of the 2016 season. Today’s game isn’t an official “Grapefruit League” game, but, its a game.
The Cardinals will be playing the Florida Atlantic Owls. The Owls have played 7 games so far this year and happen to have won all of them. The Owls are not a Pee-Wee team, thats for sure, but they also aren’t an MLB team.
Former Owl, Austin Gomber, will be starting for the Cardinals today. Gomber, 22, won 15 games last year with the Cardinals Class A affiliate, while posting up a 2.67 ERA.
