Allen, Blues fend off Minnesota on road

After four days off, the Blues took-down the Minnesota Wild to end a road trip and start a three-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory.

Jori Lehtera returned to the lineup after taking a puck to the face. The STL (Schwartz, Lehtera, Tarasenko) line got together after missing Lehtera for three games.

Lehtera put the Blues on the board first as his slapshot beat Devin Dubnyk 7:44 minutes into the game. His goal was unassisted.

About two minutes later, Kyle Brodziak stopped by the Wild’s blue line and dropped the puck for Ryan Reaves. Reaves flew into the zone and beat Dubnyk with a short-sided wrist shot to give the Blues a 2-0 lead in the first period.

The scoresheet is empty until midway through the second, when Patrik Berglund extended the Blues’ lead to 3-0. Berglund pounced on a juicy rebound from David Backes’ shot to claim his 6th goal of the season.

However, the Wild didn’t give up.

Ryan Sutter and Matt Dumba registered goals in the third period to cut the Blues’ lead to 3-2.

With 1:31 minutes left in regulation, Robby Fabbri gave the Blues some insurance as he knocked in an empty net goal to make it a 4-2 Blues victory.

The Blues return home Wednesday as they take on the Chicago Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m.
