Herrera Scores Four In 5-2 Win At Tulsa Roughnecks FC

Saint Louis FC traveled to ONEOK Field to capture a 5-2 victory over its conference rival, the Tulsa Roughnecks. Tulsa played a man down for most the game, allowing Saint Louis 4 goals in the 2nd half.

Irvin Herrera was quick to attack, heading in a goal in the first 10 minutes of play. Shortly after, during the 17thminute, a straight red card was issued to Tulsa’s Davoren for a hard tackle on Drew Conner

Tulsa’s Ramos Carpio was able to beat Pais to the post and tie the score in the 28th minute. Ten minutes later, Tulsa scored again off a corner kick, leading the first half 2-1.

In the 52nd minute, Mike Ambersley assisted on a second Herrera goal, tie-ing the score. Saint Louis continued to pressure the 10 man Tulsa team, and it wasn’t long before Jamiel Hardware found Herrera to complete a hat trick for his 3rd goal of the night.

A few minutes later, Herrera scored again, putting the score at 4-2.

James Musa was able to poach home a goal in the 82nd minute to end the scoring for the evening.

Head Coach Dale Schilly said the red card obviously made it difficult for Tulsa, but Saint Louis was able to do the necessary work to benefit from the man advantage.  Perhaps the biggest beneficiary was Herrea.  “The last goal is one we’ll remember because it was indicative of the way he plays.” said Schilly.  “He’s been close but missed some training with injuries and now he’s back and his confidence is growing, his technique is getting better and he’ll have a few more multiple goal games this season, that’s for sure.”

Saint Louis FC returns home for the rescheduled conference matchup with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25.  Visit saintlouisfc.com or contact an Account Executive by calling636.680.0997 or emailing [email protected] for more information.
