LAST TIME OUT:

Saint Louis FC is coming off a 1-1 draw against Western Conference leading Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in a midweek match.  It was the second time WFC2 traveled to World Wide Technology Soccer Park after the April 30th match was rescheduled due to lightning in the area.

Vancouver’s Brett Levis had the first goal of the night in the 22nd minute.   STLFC’s Jamiel Hardware would tie the game in the 61st minute after collecting his own blocked shot and finding the net off the rebound.

Saint Louis kept the pressure on Vancouver in the second half with a number of quality chances, but was never able to find the game winning goal.

THE OPPONENT:

Rio Grande Valley FC drew 0-0 against San Antonio FC on Wednesday.

RGV FC is coached by Wilmer Cabrera, a former Colombian international defender with 48 caps and three goals for the Colombian national team.  He competed with Colombia in the 1990 and 1998 World Cup.  Playing the majority of his professional career in Colombia, Argentina and Costa Rica; Cabrera made one final stop in the U.S. with the Long Island Rough Riders in 2004-05 before joining the coaching ranks in 2006.

Cabrera has served as an assistant coach with the U.S. U18 and U17 men’s national teams, the Colorado Rapids and most recently as the head coach for the now dissolved Chivas USA in 2014 before being selected as Rio Grande Valley’s head man in its inaugural campaign.

STREAKING:

Both Saint Louis FC and Rio Grande Valley bring streaks into Sunday’s match.  STLFC is on a three game undefeated streak and undefeated at home in 2016 while RGV FC is on a four game undefeated streak with wins over Swope Park and San Antonio FC and draws with San Antonio and Real Monarchs SLC.
