Four Billikens Tabbed All-Conference, McGinty Named Coach of the Year

by Press Release

The Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season champion Saint Louis Billikens had four players named All-Conference on Wednesday. Additionally, SLU head coach Mike McGinty was named the A-10 Coach of the Year.

Earning second-team All-Conference plaudits were senior forward Joe Saad and redshirt-junior midfielder Max Karcher. Forward Saadiq Mohammed and defender Quayyum Murana were named to the A-10 All-Rookie team. Karcher, a business administration major, also earned a spot on the A-10’s All-Academic team.

Saad is the Billikens’ leading scorer with 12 points (4G, 4A). All of his scoring came in conference play. Karcher leads the team in minutes played and is second on the team in scoring with eight points (3G, 2A).

Mohammed scored three times in the conference slate, all game-winners. He was twice named A-10 Rookie of the Week. Murana, a key part of the Billikens’ defense that posted three shutouts in league play, also earned an A-10 Rookie of the Week nod.

McGinty was tabbed A-10 Coach of the Year for the third time in his career, having previously earned the award in 2012 and 2013.

The Billikens (8-7-3) are the No. 1 seed for this week’s Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Championship in Davidson, North Carolina. SLU opens the tournament Thursday against No. 8 Dayton at 10 a.m. (CT).
