The Chicago Cubs have signed outfielder Jon Jay to a 1-year, $8 million deal today.

Jay batted .291 with two home runs, 26 doubles and 26 RBIs for the Padres in 2016, his first year in San Diego after spending his first six Major League seasons with the Cardinals. He was limited to 90 games this past season due to a broken right forearm.

In his career, the 31-year-old has posted a .287/.352/.384 slash line with 31 homers and 253 RBIs in 847 games.
