Missouri State Upsets Northern Iowa; Faces Wichita in Semifinal

by

St. Louis – Missouri State pulled off the first upset of Arch Madness in the final game on Friday night knocking off Northern Iowa 70-64 behind 20 points from Alize Johnson.

It could have been a MSU blowout as the Panthers (14-16) shot just 34%, including 6-of-28 from behind the arc but the Bears (17-15) committed 17 turnovers that led to 18 points for UNI. Missouri State offset those mistakes by dominating on the glass, out-rebounding Northern Iowa 50-25, 15 of those on the offensive end of the floor.

The Panthers were paced by 18 points from Jeremy Morgan who was held to just five points in the second half and finished the game shooting 7-of-18 from the floor.

Missouri State led for 34:41 but could never pull away, only leading by as many as nine points in the final minute. MSU will face Wichita State tomorrow at 5pm.
