ST. LOUIS – It figured to be only a matter of time, and today, it was made official.

After scoring once and assisting four times to help the United States win gold at the IIHF World Junior Championship Tournament, Tage Thompson, who was selected 26th in last year’s NHL Draft by the Blues, agreed to terms on a 3-year, entry-level contract with St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon.

A 6 foot 5, 201 pound forward, Thompson lit the lamp 19 times and provided 13 helpers to lead his team this season at the University of Connecticut, and recorded 33 goals in 70 total games played for the Huskies.

Thompson’s contract will take effect for the 2017-2018 campaign, and he will report to the Blues’ AHL affiliate Chicago Wolves.
