Blues Alumni To Play Fundraiser Game At Hardee’s IcePlex

by Press Release

The St. Louis Blues Alumni Association will play their final game at the Hardee’s IcePlex in Chesterfield on Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m.

The IcePlex, which is located in Chesterfield and first opened in 1995, has served as the home of the Blues Alumni for years. It also once served as the official practice rink for the St. Louis Blues until the club moved to the Ice Zone at St. Louis Outlet Mall. The rink is home to the St. Louis AAA Blues, Chesterfield Hockey Association, and is also used for ice skating and high school hockey.

It will cease operations later this month.

Friday’s Alumni Game will feature more than 20 former Blues and also includes door prizes, giveaways and a silent auction for fans that attend the event. Tickets are limited and available for $100 each. Tickets can be purchased online at chesterfieldhockey.com or by calling 636-778-2043.

Players expected to participate include Bernie Federko, Brett Hull, Kelly Chase, Darren Pang, Jamie Rivers, Rick Zombo, Larry Patey, Jamal Mayers, Gino Cavallini, Lubos Bartecko, Jim Campbell, Bob Hess, Bruce Racine, Tom Tilley, Dwight Schofield, John Wensink, Neil Komadoski, Blake Dunlop, Mike Zuke and Jon Casey.

All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Chesterfield Sports Complex (http://chesterfieldsportscomplex.org/) fundraising effort and is tax deductible.

The fundraising event will help raise money towards the new 50+ year facility with a cost just shy of $23 million. The facility will have a focus on “ice” related programs, sports and activities as well as “non-ice” related programs, sports and activities (particularly in the warm months). They are aiming for an opening date of September 2018.

The Chesterfield Hockey Association has an average yearly membership of about 500 kids, however the loss of the Hardee’s Iceplex impacts a significantly greater number of groups beyond just our club. This additional impact includes the figure skating community, high school hockey community, adult hockey leagues as well as the general public. For roughly 22 years, the public has also enjoyed the use of the Hardee’s Iceplex for public skating sessions, stick and pucks sessions and most importantly Learn to Skate sessions.
