Brown, Elwood Selected To 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game

SAUGET, Ill. – Gateway Grizzlies outfielder/designated hitter Blake Brown and relief pitcher Michael Elwood have been selected to participate in the 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game.

Brown is hitting .306 this season. He is tied for second in the league with 10 home runs and tied for fourth in RBIs with 38.

Brown is playing in this third season with the Grizzlies. Since signing with the team in April 2015, Brown has accumulated a .263 batting average in the Frontier League. He hit 22 home runs in 2015.

Brown has started all 47 games for Gateway in 2017.

Elwood is playing in his second season in the Frontier League after pitching for the Normal CornBelters in 2016. Last year, Elwood made only 13 appearances with Normal including five starts.

Elwood has worked 32 innings across 21 appearances this season with a team-leading three wins against zero loses. He currently holds a 3.09 ERA and has struck out 46 batters.

The 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game will be played in Joliet, Illinois, on Wednesday, July 12 at Silver Cross Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
