by St. Louis Ambush

The St. Louis Ambush have signed defender Robert Acosta, team CEO Shelly Clark announced today. Per league and team policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Acosta brings four seasons of professional arena soccer experience to the Ambush. He has played for the Norfolk SharX (MISL), Rochester Lancers (MASL), and the past two seasons with the Cedar Rapids Rampage (MASL).

Robert has literally traveled the world to play soccer. St. Louis will be the ninth city he’s lived and played in since leaving home at the age of 18. Most recently, he spent July traveling around Denmark playing 10 matches against Premier League and First Division teams and earned his first outdoor professional contract IFK As in Sweden. Acosta also played amateur soccer with Cedar Rapids Rampage United (PLA), Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach Piranhas (PDL) and the Virginia Legacy (PDL).

When not playing soccer, Acosta is building a personal training business. He said he’s done a lot of face-to-face training and coaching in the different places he’s lived and is excited to share his knowledge and experience with the people of St. Louis this season. Acosta is a native of Tuscon, Arizona. He played collegiate soccer at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

The Ambush open their 2017-18 schedule on the road when they face the Kansas City Comets on November 4. The Ambush kick off the home portion of the new season when they host the Milwaukee Wave on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 7:05 p.m. CT at the Family Arena. The 2017-18 season will be the fifth for the franchise, who has called the Family Arena home since 2013. November 11 is also Veterans Day, and the Ambush will recognize our Veterans during the game. Leading up to the home opener, the Ambush invite fans to the Fan Fest, which will include a free exhibition game, on Saturday, October 21 at the Family Arena.
