THE BASICS

• The Billikens, who have won three straight and eight of their last nine games, improved to 12-9.

• Wise was 5-for-8 on the day with two home runs and two doubles.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED

• With two outs in the top of the first inning, Saint Louis scored twice on Allie Macfarlane’s RBI double and Alyssa Tarquinio’s RBI single.

• The Billikens made it 4-0 in the third on Wise’s two-run home run.

• Western Illinois answered with four runs in its half of the third.

• Wise’s RBI single in the fifth delivered what proved to be the game-winning run. The hit scored Lauren Lomax, who led off with a double.

• Kaylea Chappelle, who entered the circle in the third, stranded two Western Illinois runners in the fifth and two more in the seventh to pick up the victory.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Wise added a double for her team-leading third 3-hit game of the season.

• Lomax also had a single.

• Kat Lane singled twice.

• Chappelle (4-3) pitched the final 4 2/3 innings. She allowed three hits, walked one and struck out two.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Billikens took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a three-run blast by Wise, her team-leading seventh homer of the season.

• Wise made it 4-0 with a two-out RBI double in the second.

• Kansas City pulled even with three runs in the third and one in the fourth.

• Mackenzie Lawson put SLU back on top in the fifth, driving in a run with a rare bunt double.

• Tarquinio’s two-out RBI single in the sixth gave Saint Louis an insurance tally.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Wise’s seven home runs are just one shy of the Saint Louis single-season record for a freshman, set by Allie Macfarlane in 2015.

• Chappelle collected two doubles.

• Alyssa Chavez produced a double and a single.

• Lane registered two singles.

• Lomax recorded a single.
