Well who won some money on betting there would be another Terminator film? While only rumored for a while, it was officially announced earlier this week that Terminator 6 was given the green-light to start production, which is around June of this year.
However one particular aspect was even more exciting (and making us hopeful this Terminator will actually be good), is that Linda Hamilton will be returning to play as Sarah Conner! And yes, Arnie is back as well, but that’s no surprise to anyone.
The only things that have been revealed so far is Hamilton’s casting and that Terminator 6 will serve as a reboot/retcon, which means it will moreover serve as a sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day, thus completely ignoring films that have come after that. James Cameron is also on board for the production as well. Tim Miller, who headed the Deadpool production, is also set to direct.
We can only hope, with so much talent already added in the pre-production phase, that it will be better than the critically panned Salvation and Genisys films. While they had star studded casts to help carry the films, the overall story and messy canon to the originals just completely ruined the series to a point where fans just wanted the series to die off with whatever dignity and popularity it had left.
Terminator 6 has a tentative release date for July 27th, 2019.
