Wise Named to National Freshman of the Year List

Saint Louis University freshman right fielder Sadie Wise (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood H.S.) has been selected as a top-25 candidate for the Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Freshman of the Year Award.

The list of 25 players will be narrowed to 10 on May 10 and to three on May 23. The recipient of the Division I Freshman of the Year Award will be announced May 29.

Wise leads the Billikens in most offensive categories, including a school-record 14 home runs, and is atop the Atlantic 10 Conference in home runs, extra-base hits (25) and total bases (100). She ranks second in the A-10 with an .813 slugging percentage, well above the Saint Louis season record of .715.

Wise stands third in the A-10 in batting average (.382), hits (47), RBIs (42) and on-base percentage (.476); fourth in runs (35) and walks (21); and tied for 10th in doubles (11). She is a four-time A-10 Rookie of the Week.

Among the national leaders, Wise ranks 13th in home runs, 20th in slugging percentage, 24th in total bases and 45th in RBIs.
