THE BASICS
• Saint Louis dropped an 8-0, five-inning decision to top-seeded Massachusetts in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Thursday afternoon at Fordham’s Bahoshy Field.
• The fifth-seeded Billikens (28-28) fall to the loser’s bracket in the double-elimination tournament. Depending on the outcome of Thursday’s second game matching No. 2 Fordham and No. 6 George Washington, SLU will play again either Thursday at 4 p.m. or Friday at 1:30 p.m. (Central times).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• UMass plated an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning.
• The Minutewomen added two runs in the second, four in the third and one in the fourth.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
Alyssa Chavez singled with one out in the fifth to break up a perfect game, and Kaylea Chappelle added a two-out single.
