Redbirds Return to AutoZone Park Riding Three-Game Winning Streak

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – The Memphis Redbirds (26-18) scored runs in the third-through-seventh innings en route to a 6-1 win in the series finale at the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers) Sunday afternoon in Colorado Springs.

Seven position player starters had at least one of Memphis’ 12 hits in the game. Alex Mejia was 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Andrew Knizner was 2-for-4 with a run knocked in. Knizner also had his second double of the season in the game.

Oscar Mercado was 2-for-5 and finished the series going 9-for-14 in the last two days. Patrick Wisdom reached base four times with a 2-for-3 showing and two walks, and he was 7-for-10 with seven RBI in the last three games at Colorado Springs.

 

Dakota Hudson moved to 5-1 on the season with 6.0 innings of work, allowing six hits and one run, which crossed the plate after he left the game. Hudson fanned seven and walked four. Preston Guilmet tossed the seventh and eighth innings, and Edward Mujica finished the ballgame for the Redbirds.

The Redbirds plated single runs in the third and fourth, two in the fifth, and lone runs in the sixth and seventh to account for their scoring on the day.

After scoring 20 of its 22 runs in yesterday’s doubleheader with two outs, the Redbirds scored four of their six on Sunday with two away.
