MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Tacoma’s Casey Lawrence threw a complete-game shutout, and Daniel Vogelbach hit a grand slam in the third inning to set the tone for a 5-0 Rainiers (Mariners) win over the Memphis Redbirds (35-24) Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.

Memphis had three hits on the night, with Tyler O’Neill doubling in the fourth, Oscar Mercado adding a double in the sixth, and Wilfredo Tovar contributing a base knock in the eighth.

Due to an error ahead of Vogelbach’s grand slam and another on interference in the eighth inning, all five Tacoma runs were unearned to the Memphis pitching staff on the night.

John Gant started and worked 6.0 innings, giving up six hits and four unearned runs on the grand slam, and he struck out five. Arturo Reyes threw 2.0 innings and gave up two hits and an unearned run in the eighth, andConner Greene made his Triple-A debut with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
