St. Louis Ambush To Host Outdoor Game This Saturday In Belleville

by

The St. Louis Ambush pro indoor soccer team, busy preparing for their 6th season since the rebirth in 2013, will take to the “Great Outdoors” this Saturday when they join forces with the Fire & Ice SC women’s semi-pro team, for a unique soccer doubleheader at Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville, Illinois.

The Ambush, a mainstay of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL), will play a rare outdoor exhibition game at 5:00pm against St. Louis Maritsa FC of the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). Fire and Ice, the defending 2017 Champions of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), were undefeated last season and will face cross-state rival Kansas City Courage in a regular-season game at 7:15pm.

Ambush General Manager Brian Roth said, “This gives us a great event for our fans during our off-season and it gives (head coach) Hewerton a great opportunity to get our current players back together for a competitive game, as well as look at some potential new players for the upcoming season.” Roth added that Fire & Ice team owner Lindsay Kennedy-Eversmeyer “has done a phenomenal job with her Fire and Ice team over the years, especially last season winning the WPSL title. She gets some of the best women’s talent in the St. Louis Metro Area year after year, and her record indicates that. They’re trying to grow their brand and we’re always looking to increase awareness about the Ambush, and we feel this is the perfect opportunity to combine our efforts and reach out to new fans.”

Eversmeyer said, “I am very excited and honored to be working with the Ambush on this event. Both of our organizations are very passionate about promoting and supporting soccer in the St. Louis area. This is a great opportunity for young, aspiring soccer players to get out for some family fun, and to see both a men’s and women’s game played at a high level.”

The special Soccer Saturday Double-Header will include activities for the entire family including a soccer clinic for the kids, an autograph session, inflatables, face painting and more.
